Still Vacationing!
I'm a little bored right now. I'm waiting for my Mom to come back from Carson City to pick me up, so we can go right back out there. I went up to Virginia City, Nevada with Bruce. It's only about 6 miles from my Mom's home. He wore shorts, which wasn't a good choice, especially considering the poor guy has a cold. He started feeling sick yesterday, and it's really taken him down. We decided to stay an extra day, so we won't be back until Thursday, which will give him a little more time to rest. Going back to Virginia City; its super windy right now, and so the cold wind did the both of us in, especially him with just those shorts on. Anyway, he's going to lay around a bit and try to feel better, and I am going to take off with my Mom once she gets here.
I was checking out some really old photos up at this bookstore in Virginia City. It's hard to believe how many people used to live there. I think the population during its boom days in the late 1800s, was some where around 60,000 people! That's a lot when you consider the size of the city, and the fact that it's all nestled in the hills. I had a good time checking out some of the old photos. Let me see if I can scrounge an old photo off the internet. Okay, here's a picture of just one portion of the city. There's a lot more to the left of this photo, but today, not even half of these buildings exist:

I got this photo from the
One Online Nevada Encyclopedia. There are more photos for you to check out there if you like! You can see the Catholic church, St. Mary's in the background. It exists even today. We have many photos of this church. I'll see if I can dig some up!
